Daily Generations: Space Jelly
Created in DALL·E 2024-12-02
I’ve been on a bit of an alien jellyfish kick lately so I though I’d expand on that with a giant space jelly.
This one took two prompts in DALL-E. The first rendition was good but I wanted the street view perspective.
I had suggested the city be near-future rather than far-future, so I would probably remove the spaceships, have a few less drones and make their sci-fi blue thrusters into spotlights. I think the tron wheels one the cars work, but again I’d take out the blue exhaust plumes. I kind of like the random 2019 era Cadillac SUV on the right hand side, even if it is a little out of place.
I find it interesting that it chose to use asian inspired text despite not receiving a positive prompt to do so. I assume this is because of the vast amounts of Anime and Bladerunner inspired art in its training data.
I really like the alien itself. I envisioned the tentacles hanging loosely above the city. Them disappearing among the buildings and looking like they might connect into something really draws you into the world. What are they doing? Grabbing up victims? Leaching from the power grid?
The prompt specifically said the creature was eyeless, and it was in the first rendition, but I didn’t reenforce it in the second. Normally I would go back again to have them removed, or paint them out myself, but I kind of like what it did here so I left them.
Literally while I was typing that last sentence I decided I wanted to see what it would be like if It had many of these “eyes” or “ports”. So you get a bonus image today!

I prefer that the alien is less human, but I think the last version was better in every other aspect.
I don’t illustrate in this realistic style myself, but if this were for production I would likely combine the two together in Photoshop and send the concept art to a digital painter.
